Maldives
has been crowned as the "World's Leading Island Destination", at the
World Travel Awards Grand Final 2012 which was held in New Delhi, India.
Maldivian
High commissioner to India Mohamed Naseer accepted the Awards on behalf at the
event.
Maldives
won the award after competing with ten other countries nominated for the Oscar
equivalent award of the global tourism industry. The nominated countries
include Mauritius that had won the award for the past three consecutive years.
Maldives last won the award back in 2008. Read more
