Job cuts hit Pizza Hut headquarters

Pizza Hut confirmed Wednesday that layoffs will take place at its Dallas headquarters as the company focuses on turning corporate-owned stores into franchise-operated units.

A spokesman for Pizza Hut said staff members at the company’s Dallas headquarters will be notified of the cuts Wednesday. The company didn't specify how many positions will be impacted.

Pizza Hut confirmed the news after Jerry Abramson, Mayor of Louisville, Kentucky, confirmed that Yum Brands Inc. will be cutting or relocating “several hundred” white-collar jobs from its Louisville headquarters and moving other jobs to restaurant chain headquarters cities. Officials with Yum Brands (NYSE: YUM) could not immediately be reached for comment. Pizza Hut's chain headquarters is located in Dallas. Taco Bell's headquarters is located in Irvine, Calif. The KFC, A&W and Long John Silver's restaurant chains are located in Louisville.

Yum Brands will cut several hundred jobs at Pizza Hut in Dallas, at its Taco Bell headquarters in Irvine, Calif., and at the company’s headquarters in Louisville, Ky.

Yum’s Brands also has the KFC, Long John Silver’s and A&W All-American Food brands under its umbrella.
