Central Purchasing Manager
MINOR Hotels in the Maldives is establishing a Central Purchasing
Department and requires an experienced person to head the Central Purchasing
Operations. This is a newly created position.
The successful candidate will be based in the Maldives and will have to
identify the right software technology and recruit the staff and set up the
department and deliver purchasing efficiencies in terms of pricing and
logistics. The position is expected to deliver the following result.
- Lead purchasing team to identify, develop and implement supply chain strategies across all concept
- Produce innovative and accurate lowest landed cost analysis
- Drive continuous improvement through productivity and efficiency management
- Design and align supply chain processes and policies with business processes to maximize corporate capital efficiency
- Minimize cost and maximize value in the supply chain process via strategic sourcing, negotiations, total cost modeling, etc. (supply chain best practices)
- Identify process improvements and facilitate implementation of special high value projects responsive to core needs
- Ensure effective delivery of initiatives, programs and directives in accordance with sourcing strategy and financial business plans
- Support the Group Director Purchasing in execution of due diligences and supports in realization of potential synergy effects after acquiring new businesses.
- Develop, implement and execute the purchase strategy for all items within the assigned product group thus ensuring the best possible prices and conditions
- Ensure regular information delivery about suppliers, market developments, usage of purchase agreements towards Group Director Purchase, Business Unit Purchase managers and other stakeholders and ensures alignment with these parties regarding strategic and tactic purchasing issues and decision making processes.
- Follow up on claims, complaints and other points to be addressed with suppliers.
- Support the Group Director Purchasing in execution of due diligences
Selection criteria
- Has relevant academic qualifications and has a minimum 5 years of experience in an international procurement role
- Should have a proven track record in buying materials from the assigned product group and has knowledge of the relevant markets
- Is pragmatic, disciplined and self-motivated
- Has commercial acumen to recognize and act upon opportunities and has strong negotiating skills.
- Has a proven track record in total cost of ownership initiatives.
- Has a strong knowledge of various cultures and international ways of working.
- Has excellent English speaking and writing skills and a flexible attitude to work and is willing to travel internationally.
- Has experience in working with automated procurement and inventory control systems
- Has leadership qualities and be able to work independently
